This is research conducted by Dr. Hamermesh, who has studied the relationship between physical attractiveness and happiness for several decades. His findings show that an individual’s physical attractiveness has a significant impact on happiness, regardless of gender. This influence arises from multiple factors, with approximately 50% attributed to indirect effects. In other words, while personal aesthetic satisfaction with one’s appearance plays a role, an attractive appearance also exerts positive influences on areas such as health, employment opportunities, educational attainment, and marriage, ultimately leading to higher overall life satisfaction.

There is also another study conducted in Korea that analyzed the impact of skin aesthetic care on happiness among middle-aged and older women. The study found that skin care management significantly improved levels of happiness in a statistically meaningful way. Interestingly, the results showed that skin aesthetic care enhanced happiness through the mediating effects of self-efficacy and self-esteem. In other words, when individuals invest time and energy in skin care as a form of self-development, they gain confidence, develop greater self-respect, and ultimately experience increased happiness.
